Parade of Homes Part 1

Picture yourself walking into your dream home.  What does it look like?  How does it feel?  What sacrifices did you make to get there?  There are many things that make up a home, most of which, in my book,  do not have any monetary value.  But the parts of a home that can burn a hole in your pocket are often the pieces of the puzzle that bring excitement and peace to the senses. Sheets that scream comfort, more closet space than you could ever fill, floor to ceiling bookshelves or a view that makes you forget about your to-do list.

Parade of Homes is an event in which a tour of some of the most amazingly crafted homes is available to the public.  Home builders and designers with tremendous talent come together to showcase their fabulous designs.  Thousands of spectators view these decked out abodes and vote for their favorite homes.  I attended Utah Valley's Parade of Homes a few weeks ago.  It took forever to download the hundreds of pictures I took, in awe of the beautiful craftsmanship and decor detail spread throughout the homes.  I will be posting my favorites this week.  Hopefully the photos will help you find a little inspiration of your own.

The lighting throughout this home was absolutely FANTASTIC.  It was creative, individual and sharp.  The stools in the kitchen made my heart skip a beat.  The rich wood tones and metal work are worth every penny it must have cost the owner. 

Yes, this is a living wall.  This feature definitely made my "Are you kidding me?" list.

So many things about this home scream, BUY ME, MAKE ME, FIND ME!  I will have to get to work on the list of remakes I have planned.  Luckily my mom decided to take up welding a few years back.  Learning to weld has taken her carpentry skills to a whole new level.  One of my favorite creations of hers, has to be this desk, not to mention these fabulous bookcases she whipped up.  I can brag a little about my mom, right?   Hopefully I will be able to squeeze a few light fixtures out of her.
