Tin Can Thanksgiving Decor

If you don't know this already, I am a tin can hoarder :) I always think they just might be useful someday, so I have a hard time throwing them away. That and glass jars. Anyway, I finally put some to good use on this Thanksgiving craft.

Last year we started the tradition with our kids of writing down something we are thankful for everyday in November until Thanksgiving, putting it in a jar and reading them on or near Thanksgiving. This year my tin can creation has replaced the lame-o jar we used last year!

What Thanksgiving traditions do you have?

I couldn't decided if I liked it where it was, so I tried something different also...

And this is where it ended up. I figured the little ones would have a hay day throwing them around and let's be honest, I don't want to have to pick them up all day every day!

This was extremely easy to make! And might I add cheap! You just need a few things...

Items Needed:

Tin cans
Spray Primer (Or spray paint for metal, whichever you prefer. I had primer on hand so I used it!)
burlap
Hot glue gun & hot glue
Stencils (super cheap, can be found at Wal Mart or craft stores)
paint
Paint brush or Q-tips (something to paint with)
Twine for hanging (opt.)

*Note: If you want to add a little decorative flower, all I did was hot glue the ribbon together and then... I'm almost ashamed to say it... air soft gun BB's :)

I think Thanksgiving is always the holiday that gets a little neglected... right in between two other great Holidays full of fun decor and crafty things. It's the one holiday, though, we have to remember all of the blessings we've been given throughout the year. So don't skip the Thanksgiving love this year. It needs a few days of fun DIY decor too! :)
