How the plaque was made...

Supplies:
Cream and aqua blue spray paint
Matte finish clear coat or Mod Podge
Gel medium
Wooden board cut to desired size
Shear fabric or ribbon
Your favorite printable (I picked my image up here from The Graphic's Fairy)
Guilder's Paste (optional)
Sand paper
Glue gun

Step 1: Use a few pieces of scrap wood to build a plaque big enough to fit your printable or desired image to be transferred.  Apply a little wood glue and clamps if needed to hold the wood pieces together.  Also as we have mentioned before, you can always stop by Home Depot or Lowe's and they will cut a piece of wood for you in any shape or size.

Step 2: Spray paint.  Apply a couple layers of Ivory paint and primer, then a layer of Blue Ocean Breeze spray paint.

Step 3: Sand.  Use150 grit sandpaper, wrapping a piece of the sandpaper around a small block of wood, makes it easier to sand evenly across the desired surface.
Step 4: Frame edges.  I used gilder's paste around the edges of my board, then wiped of any excess.
Step 5: Apply the image.   Watch this video on how to use gel medium to transfer an image to wood.  Apply a layer of gel medium (which you can get at any craft supply store) to the face of the image.  Lay image face down on the wood.  Let dry.
NOTE:  Printing your image off onto card stock provides a better finished product.

Step 6: Apply a generous amount of water to the board.  Carefully rub off the back of the image, removing any excess film or paper.  Be careful not to scratch or dig at the image or else the medium with come of too.

Step 7: Apply a top coat.  I applied 3 generous layers of a clear top coat with a matte finish, but Mod Podge also works.

Step 8: Apply fabric or ribbon.  Use a hot glue gun to apply some scrap fabric or ribbon ends to the back of my board.

This picture comes out perfectly faded and worn. Thank you Graphic's Fairy for the fabulous, vintage and original graphics.
