There is a part of me that has a slight distaste for the over abundance of holiday cheer that bursts through our homes from the months of October through March. The presents, the goodies and the parties all seem a bit much right about now and although I should be saying "oh what fun", I find myself thinking, "is another holiday really necessary?" Can't I just skip straight to my favorite time of the year, i.e. SPRING CLEANING and call it good?
BUT,
and this is a big but, there is also a part of me that giggles at the chance to celebrate something as frivolous as Valentine's Day. Instead of thinking, "I should really get started on my taxes", my mind is flooded with things like... "Should I bake heart-shaped cookies or cupcakes this year, or both, definitely both... oooooh I should emboss my own Valentine cards... oh I know, I will construct a giant cake from paper mache and cardboard, then hide in it and pop out as soon as my husband walks through the door." Now is this how a grown woman should be spending valuable day dreaming time, I think not. Unfortunately, women such as I cannot fight the instinct of putting far more on our plates than we, than I, could ever accomplish. Despite my outer display of genuine joy that is the result of monogrammed towels, holiday banners, cake toppers (those I will never understand my desire to collect and use... just eat the CAKE, it'll taste just as good without the little sign on it that defines it as birthday cake/ New Year cake/ Valentine cake) all of which encapsulate the incessant excess of crap I require to make my home "beautiful", I am a bit of a cynic at times, feeling as though there isn't any room for nonsensical Valentine's Day decor and holiday fuss.
BUT,
and this is another big but, I truly cannot stop the deep desire I have to design, redecorate 10 times a year, string up paper hearts all over the house and bake more goodies than I'll ever be able to give. I have accepted this; I must. I even write about my disease and try and convert others to join in the madness. So for the crazy DIYers, crafters and mom's on a mission I have assembled 50 free printables available for download at the click of a button. I am excited for the chance to do something nice for others. Valentine's Day is not all that bad if it grants me an afternoon with my daughter decorating cookies and making cards. Being a mom has taught me there is always fun to be had.

3. Natalie at the The Busy Budgeting Mama shared this FREE "Be Mine" Valentine's Day printable. But what really caught my eye when I visited her site was THE MOST ADORABLE hand made children's toys. Natalie has put together the cutest toy room for her girls. If you have a moment to spare check it out. When I saw it I wanted to "play house" in the toy kitchen myself.

29. This printable set is offered by Tiny Me.com an Australian company that specializes in personalized toys, books, games and other accessories for children. An email is required to enter the site and usually I steer clear of such sites because my email is always so bogged down with coupons and such. But I made an exception for Tiny Me.com and found some really adorable wall decals. This one might be worth the extra time spent sorting through emails.
