Bam Bam's BBQ Restaurant Reveal

A few months back I posted about my husband and I opening up a BBQ restaurant. Well, the time has FINALLY come. Our Grand Opening was June 1st and we couldn't have been happier with the results! We worked a very loooonnng 3 months to complete this place and are thrilled to say we mostly did it completely by ourselves. I think I can speak for both of us when I say it wasn't the funnest thing we've ever done! :) But totally worth it. Cam's BBQ is Central Texas style and made fresh daily. He sold out every single day last week, it was incredible! Anyway, if you're ever in Utah you'll have to stop by.

Before & After Photos...

View from walking in the front doors...

These tables were left in the back from the previous restaurant. We needed more small tables so we ripped off the formica tops and built new tops to match the picnic tables, then found a STEAL on chairs on KSL.

Bam Bams Kitchen & Dining

The counter that was already in the store was literally disgusting so Cam ripped it out and rebuilt a complete new one. Once it was framed in, I added the wood planked decor and finished off with metal around all the edges. We hired a company for that part... better to leave that kind of thing to the professionals!

The most important part... the smoker...

And what's a kitchen without... FOOOOD???
(This is brisket, ribs and cole slaw. All to die for... coming from a person who never used to like BBQ or cole slaw! Now my tummy is growling and I'm drooling just writing this post! :) )

Maybe my favorite part of the entire decorating process...
These doors were previously covered in plain and ugly clear plastic "windows". I originally thought it would be cool to get those metal castle looking window covers to go over them, but in reality we had no money left in the budget so I measured the holes and put my brain to work. I came up with this. Went to DI (the Good Will of Utah), bought an $8 kids bike, ripped out the spokes and here ya go. They were 12 inch spokes and the holes were 12 inch so they literally fit PERFECT!

Still need to fill a few holes but you get the idea! Don't judge!

I will destroy this Mt. Dew clock if it's the last thing I do! :) That was Cameron's touch... not cool.

Bam Bams photo wall complete with a few BBQ legends and, of course, Chris Harrison from The Bachelor. :) I found this giant map on Amazon, mod podged it to foam, then painted a coat of poly over the top for customers to pin where they're from. I figured if the line ever got long enough customers might need something to keep them occupied. Turns out, the line has been out the door every day so it was a good call!

Cam's brother built the picnic tables and did an amazing job!! They are beautiful and will last f.o.r.e.v.e.r ! If we had the room I'd steal one! :)

We had so much extra wood I decided to just do a wood mirror. Again, went to DI and bought a $5 mirror (which is HUGE by the way!), glued it to the wall and glued the wood pieces over the top of it.

The light fixture was purchased at Home Depot. Cam saw the price tag and was immediately sold, $20. When I first saw it I had to be nice, but it wasn't exactly what I had in mind :) . The light covers looked like something from the 1980's. I had purchased some tin cans from IKEA to use as chalk and pin holders to attach to the wall, but flipped them upside down, held them up against the light fixture and from there it was a no brainer.

Cam is a big believer in doing what you love for a living (obviously) so I had my sister make this print for him. She's better at Photoshop than I am :) . Thanks Jenna!

The cow comes from Bri over at Collected Blog. I showed her a picture of what I liked and she whipped this up in no time. Our cow looks great in the bathroom. :) Now we just need something to match on the other wall!

So that's it for the reveal. I wish I had more pictures of food. Guess I'll have to get back there and eat! :) I'll post more pictures of that soon!

What do you think?? Hopefully I'll be sharing a few how-to's in the next few weeks of things we did, but overall I think we are pretty happy with the results! A little different than we originally planned, but it has more of a comfy feel to it now.

The reviews of the restaurant have been AMAZING and, like I said, we could not have asked for anything better!! Follow Bam Bams BBQ on Facebook for more information, pictures, and most importantly... to find out if the food is GONE! Hope you like it!! :)
