BBQ Signs... Great Gift for Dad

My husband is a BBQ Competition Cook, better known as "Bam Bam".  He has a fantastic story, which I won't go into, but you can read about him HERE. Anyway, he competed in the Arizona BBQ Festival on Saturday so I decided to make a few signs to sell at the event... we all know men LOVE their BBQ! So if you need an idea for your dad this Father's Day... here ya go!

I'll do a separate post about BAM BAM'S BBQ later... that one could take all night. :) But if you live in AZ and haven't tried it yet, I highly recommend it!

I feel like we've done plenty of tutorials on how to paint letters onto wood, but in case you haven't seen them yet...

Hand Painted Signs:

Supplies
Printer
Paper
Pen
Tape
Carbon Paper (Hobby Lobby, craft stores, office supply, probably even Wal Mart.)
Paint
Small paint brush
Sand paper

 1. Print out letters using your printer. I just used Word for this project.
In Word create "Word Art" in the right side of the tool bar.
Type your letters and adjust as needed.
If you need to rotate it to the page, click "rotate right".
 2. Align words where you want them on your sign and use tape to tack them down. Place carbon paper behind words and use a pen to trace the letters. If you're doing this on uneven wood you might have to press harder...
When you're finished tracing it should look like this...
3. Using a small brush, paint inside your lines. You might need a couple coats...
4. Distress as needed. I usually use sand paper to get the look I want.

Thinking about adding CUSTOM BBQ SIGNS to our shop... what do you think?
(these signs will also be added to our Etsy Shop soon!)
