FAQ Barn Door Headboard Lights

Wow, I can't tell you how many emails I've received about the Barn Door Headboard lights!! I did give a brief summary of the lights at the end of the post, but I decided they needed their own post also!

Here are a few FAQ's I've received in case you're planning on using these lights:

WHERE DID YOU BUY THE LIGHTS?

Home Depot in the lighting section. They're on a wall with all the outside lights. They are not lamps or meant for the indoors so read on for instructions on how to fix that.

DO THE LIGHTS SWIVEL?

No

WHERE CAN I FIND THE LIGHTS IN THE INSPIRATION PICTURE?

Sorry, but I have no idea. :) My best bet would be to google swivel wall lights and see what comes up. Home Depot offers a small selection of swivel lights in the store, but a large selection on their website HERE.

THERE ISN'T A PLUG ON THE LIGHTS, HOW DO I FIX THAT?

Because these lights are meant for the outdoors, they come with wires only. To add a cord is very simple.

Supplies:

Light
Wire Cutters (on needle nose)
Lamp Cord (should be in the lamp section also)
Wire Cutters (on needle nose)
Electrical Tape or wire nuts.

1. First, install the light on your headboard: Drill a hole through the wood where you want the light to go for the cords. Put the cords through and screw the light to the headboard.

2. Using wire cutters (I used the cutter on my needle nose pliers), gently cut 1/2-1 inch of the outer cord surrounding the wires. Cut just enough to be able to twist the wires, but do not cut the wires. Remove the cord part that was just cut.

3. Remove the lampcord from the packaging and take off the end part. Again, using your wire cutters, cut 1/2 - 1 inch of the outer cord and remove the excess.

4. Twist the wires together from the lamp cord and the light cords.

5. Apply electrical tape around the wires or use wire nuts to connect the two.

6. Plug in the light and turn it on.

Hopefully this answers all your questions about the lights! Let me know if you have anymore and I'll add them to this list! :)
