Redecorating Without The Cost

Redecorating your house can be so expensive it usually ends up being impossible.

And we all get tired of our decor after a while, let's be honest! I decided to start going through the things in my house that I hated and try to come up with new ways to change them without throwing out and buying new. I'll share my ideas with you as I create them and hopefully help inspire you to save a little money in your own redecorating also! Do you have decorations in your house that you hate? Vases or candlesticks that could be painted, lamp shades that could be changed? I'm sure we all have plenty, so let's get started with my nasty colored vase/canister thingys...

I'm so sad, but apparently I deleted the before photos of these canisters, but they used to be an ugly red, yellow, and green color and I never cared for them at all. These were my first projects in an attempt to not hate a few of things I have to look at everyday. :)

I took them outside and sprayed them with KILZ Spray Primer...

Waited for them to dry, then used Spray adhesive following the directions and sprinkled glitter onto the glue before it dried. When I finished coating the entire thing I gave the vases a once over in glue to help secure the glitter a little better. You can also finish it with a spray Polycrylic to help seal it a little more.

And the finished product...

I find myself liking lighter and more neutral colors these days, so this was a huge improvement from the red, yellow and green before! I added this to my Christmas decor this year, but I still think it's neutral enough, even with the glitter, to leave it out year round.

So run along and go glitter something now! :) It'll put a smile on your face and even the
kiddos can help!
